We are so excited to introduce Bloom Play Therapy, a new child therapy practice in Keizer, Oregon.
My name is Justin and I am a licensed professional counselor intern based in Oregon. Throughout my experience in the psychology field, I have had the opportunity to serve a wide range of clients. However it wasn’t until I began working with children that I learned where my true passion lies. My goal as a therapist is to empower children to overcome daily struggles by helping them learn how to process their experiences and develop more effective strategies for managing their emotions.
Play Therapy combines aspects of mental health therapy into a medium that is easily understood and embraced by children aged 3-12. Children are able to express so much more of their inner worlds by play than they are simply sitting still on a couch and talking to a person they hardly know or trust. By playing with a child, the therapist is able to build this trust. Play Therapy allows the child to explore, at his or her own pace, issues that are affecting their life in some way. Through Play Therapy, the child will learn how to express feelings, modify behavior, develop important problem-solving skills, and better communicate and interact with others.
It’s my goal to make a personal connection with each child and his or her family, and provide individualized support and guidance through direct play therapy and education. In addition to individual sessions with the child, I will also work closely with the guardians throughout the process, gleaning feedback and discussing progress.
